Ending Bedtime Chaos

Without enough sleep, we all become tall two-year-olds.” -JoJo Jensen

Ever since our three-year-old, Alexa, moved from the crib to a bed our nightly bed time routines have been chaotic. Despite our best intentions, bedtime has been a big struggle. We have tried many different things.

While we were home for Spring Break, I happened upon a Today show segment about ending issues with bedtime. I DVR’d the show and headed out the door.

Last night we watched the segment, discussed it, and wrote out a new plan for our nightly routine. Today, we discussed the new routline with the girls. They provided the input and we adjusted the schedule.

Tonight we put the new routine to work. The night could not have gone much better. Both girls followed the routine. I read a couple books and left the room shortly after 8:10 P.M. Tennille was out of the room by 8:15 with one asleep. Five minutes later, I returned to check, and the other was asleep.

It is only the beginning. We will have to keep working the routine. There will be good moments and bad moments. Tonight was a good one.

My Commitment – April Blog a Day Challenge

I have joined the #AprilBlogaday Challenge. The goal is to submit a blog entry every day in April. I will not promise each blog entry will be motivational, energetic, and thought-provoking. However, I will do my best to continue to reflect on my journey of learning and my areas of growth.
